The Bukkit developers have just posted saying they're going to stop making Bukkit, and Bukkit is what makes our GriefPrevention and AutismChat plugins work.
This is fair enough, since Bukkit is technically not allowed under the Minecraft EULA, and Minecraft have started enforcing the EULA. However, it sucks. It means we can't update the server (and probably even AutismChat or GriefPrevention) unless we find an alternative to Bukkit, and then find an alternative to GriefPrevention on this Bukkit alternative, and then commission someone to make an alternative to AutismChat on this Bukkit alternative too. As far as I know nothing is changing right now. Our server hosts haven't indicated that they're going to stop offering Bukkit in the gamemods section, so everything will just be un-update-able until we've found a stable mod and alternative plugins that all work together. We're in the same boat as every other server that uses Bukkit and plugins based on it, and if no alternative pops up Minecraft as an online multiplayer phenomenon is going to change quite radically. The landscape is about to shift significantly and at the moment there's no way to predict the next step. I'll keep you posted. Edit: Apparently Mojang owns Bukkit, and Dinnerbone is working on it right now. Blimey, this is some confusing stuff. I'll keep keeping you posted. So it turns out there is a skeleton spawner very close to the spawn island. Today I turned it into an XP farm, and it's not pretty (yet) but it works. Me and Adam also tentatively tried moving a region (with a valued base on it) over from Bee to This Land. We chose a spot where we thought the biomes and shape of the land would match up and I think we did pretty well. There are some inevitable cliffy areas that please me greatly. I feel that someone should put fences along the edge for sheep-protection. --Cassian
Many of you may know that I'm good AFK friends with Adam who runs Bee and thought up AutismChat. Adam has blogged saying they don't want to be a Minecraft server admin any more.
They've told me they're happy to have chunks of people's bases etc. copied over from Bee to This Land. I know there are some fantastic structures on Bee that people've put a lot of work into, so I'm sure we can find chunks on This Land that aren't very exciting and swap them out with your excellent player-enhanced chunks from Bee. --Cassian, IGN Lottiotta |
